High Fructose Corn Syrup: A Health Food?

Hi friends of New Breath of Life, Inc. I’ve gotten lots of “forwards” lately from people disturbed by the ads promoting high fructose corn syrup as if it were a health food. It got me thinking about my own experiences with sugars of all forms. I grew up thinking it was fantastic to finish dinner with dessert that began with a Ritz cracker. I would then spread peanut butter, put a teaspoon of brown sugar on the peanut butter & top it off with some confectioner’s sugar. I could hurl (sorry) just thinking about it. More recently, prior to getting real about my own health I could polish off more almond roca in one sitting than anyone I know. I’m amazed I still have a colon, liver or gall bladder at all with what I’ve put into my body over my life time. Well, it was catching up with me & I got to a point where I couldn’t stay awake past mid afternoon daily & my body always felt swollen and ached all over. I had constant digestion issues & spent every other month on antibiotics for sinus infections. Sugar is a problem!!!

One of the ad campaigns says in effect that anything in moderation is okay. According to statistics in 2000, Americans consume on average anywhere from over ½ to just over ¾ of a pound daily PER PERSON! Moderation??? Sugar is masked in so many foods we don’t notice it. Our tongues are so coated with excess bacteria that we can’t taste it. Our colons and systems are so clogged as a result with excess of Candida and yeast that we’re fatigued, bloated, sniffling, itching, breaking out…our ears are ringing, our toes are yellow….you get the picture. We expect about 1/3 of our children today to become diabetics. I think this is a problem. Do you?

Well, back to the high fructose corn syrup. There are chemicals that go into processing this which can cause the cells in your body to become inflamed. Inflamed cells can neither absorb nutrients nor eliminate wastes. I personally want more natural, organic, pure forms of sugar in my body that have not been stripped of their nutrients which help to stabilize these sugars in my body. I have regained health, energy & sanity and want to keep it! I choose to look for raw, organic sugars, agave nectar, rice syrup, honey (raw/organic), fruit juice concentrate, maple syrup (organic), molasses (blackstrap/unsulfured), stevia, xylitol. I often tell clients I am NOT about depriving them of any pleasures. I encourage them to go on an adventure to try new HEALTHY foods and to challenge themselves weekly to discover something fun, delicious and nutritious to eat! So there you go: your mission…should you choose to accept it…is to find something new (other than high fructose corn syrup popsicles) and fabulous to try! Visit your local health food store and READ your labels. If you want suggestions, email me Diane@NewBreathofLife.com
Be Healthy & be blessed,
Diane
